  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (for crust)
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • Pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix sliced apples with lemon juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine melted butter with the remaining crust ingredients until thoroughly mixed.
  4. Press about two-thirds of the crust mixture into the prepared pan. Spread apple filling over it and top with reserved crust.
  5. Bake for 38-45 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
  6. Prepare salted caramel sauce while baking. Allow bars to cool before slicing and drizzling with caramel.
